We are becoming so civilized. For the first time ever, we have stripes on the road.
There are even reflectors in the center and along the side so you can now see the edge of the road at night (since there are no street lights). Our regular snowbirds that visit during high season won't recognize us!

Being that some drivers here are first generation, this is their first experience with lines showing how much of the road is for their car. Previous generations only used the horses, bicycles, and bus. Our deck hand's first time behind the wheel of a car was at 27 yrs. and he wouldn't take it out of first gear. No one in his family has ever had a car or drivers license.

Now just because some the center of the road now has two solid yellow lines does not necessarily mean there is no passing. Most feel that that just represents a suggestion. You still must always be vigilant for the escaped livestock that can cross at anytime. We brake for iguanas.
