part 1 of 7
This will have to be broken into parts as there are many 'interesting' experiences.
First we leave at 6am to San Jose for a copy of a car key. The only place in the country to have a second key made for our car is the Ford dealer in the capital. Our local buddy handled many calls in the local language to assure us that our trip wouldn't be in vain. He had an appointment, a key available and a locksmith booked.
After an exciting fast drive, we made the dealer at 1030am. The dealer said we didn't have an appt but our friend pointed out our name on their appt board. The needed key was found but the locksmith couldn't come until 2pm. After a heated discussion with different staff, we were told they were going to find another locksmith. All of this is in Spanish so we needed our buddy since we are still working on the language basics.
We are sent to the employee break-room for refreshments and wait. About 1pm, two car guys show back up from the locksmith with a key made against our original. They decided it was faster to go to him. After returning, the computer chip was programed to our ignition and we are good to go. This key costs us about $175 & about seven hours with travel time. Not bad, huh?
to be continued..

Love the blogs! FYI, I sent my sewing machine (for repair-$25 too!) in to SJ by bus (from Flamingo). I received it back in about a week by bus...picked it right up at the marina!
BTW...Jamie is actually FNH
