3-day trip Costa Rican style

part 2 of 7

At 130pm, we've decided we have time to make our next location in Panama. We pick up a friend that will go with us winding around the traffic in SJO . About 230pm, we leave San Jose. I will never be able to explain this road trip with enough description. We head south on a two lane curvy mountain road. You must have no fear to drive this road. I had my heart in my throat for most of the drive.
The driver continues to pass constantly. If it were me, I would still be on this road behind the first truck. You must pass or be constantly stuck behind a slow moving vehicle. It is just that all the passing is on a hill and on a curve. You must pass quickly and wish for the best. It is an art. I had to close my eyes and hold my breath MANY times. The drop off at the edge is tremendous if we miss.
We head up into the mountains. When we start making it around the top of the elevation, we are in the clouds. Visibility is about 5 feet in front of your car. We slow down our passing of other cars for a few minutes here and there due to the fog. And the sun went down at 6pm so we are night driving with no street lights.

We arrive about 7pm~ ALIVE. We are all ready for drinks, a fine dinner, etc. We deserve it all after that day. 6am to 7pm with most hours in the car with a maniac. Well he isn't crazy, you just must drive that way to get around these spots.
to be continued..
