part 6 of 7
Immigration has many traffic stops before we get a few kilometers from the border. They always stop us and ask for passports. We have four countries between the five of us. Bruce & I have USA, the others are Romania, Belgium, and Costa Rica. We are now back on the treacherous drive but at least we won't be doing any night driving. I try to read a book as we weave through the curves, hills, and passing. I don't want to watch and Panama wouldn't sell me any valium. We stop for lunch at the same spot we got a bite in on the way down. It is buffet style and I don't recognize two-thirds of the food. I get something close to chicken stew and the group gets some local stuff. I'd rather not discuss the bathrooms but I have seen worse.
We arrive to San Jose and drop off two of the guys in the car. Next we are dropped at our hotel about 530pm. This one has soap in the room and is very nice with extra towels (no washcloths). A big king bed and a clean room with a mini bar. I opened the wine and immediately realized it was spoiled. They had room service. Only had scotch whisky, Bruce could not get a Crown Royal, VO, Canadian Club, etc. No Canadian whiskey blend..
We take our second shower of the day and prepare to be picked up for dinner. We have wireless and check in with messages. Our dinner companions arrive at 730pm and we have a FABULOUS dinner at a French restaurant. It is everything and more of what we've been waiting for.
to be continued..
